Your Myanmar Joining Group Tour starts in historical Yangon or Rangoon, which contains the largest number of colonial buildings in Southeast Asia. After an unforgettable sunset at Shwedagon Pagoda, you head north to the capital of Old Burma Mandalay. From this ethnically diverse city, you visit Mandalay Hill, the largest book in the world, the longest Teak Bridge in the world and sail on the Ayeyarwaddy for Mingun.

Later through the rural country you arrive at Monywa to admire the 500.000 Buddha images at the Mohnyin Thanboddhay Pagoda and explore the sandstone caves of Po Win Taung, one the most important Buddhist sites in Southeast Asia. Through Tanaka plantations, you rejoin the mighty Ayeyarwaddy and sail down to magical Bagan. From here you explore the most important temples and visit the home of Nats at Mt Popa.

Change of air and altitude by Inle Lake, explore the shores of this picturesque lake by long-boats, visit old forgotten by the time pagodas and quaint markets, meet the Lake’s inhabitants with their intriguing ways in their water world existence, visit the remarkable caves of Pindaya before returning to Yangon for a final tête-à-tête with an old disappearing world.

You will be met at the airport in Yangon and transferred to your hotel. In the late afternoon, you then visit the incredible Shwedagon Golden Pagoda for the sunset, followed by a dinner in town.

Mandalay

Yangon to Mandalay | Flight: 1 hour

Today starts with an early morning flight to Mandalay. Then in the afternoon, you take a boat ride to Mingun up the Ayeyarwaddy River. On arrival, you visit the Mingun Pahtodawgyi and the 90-ton Mingun Bell, one of the largest ringing bells in the world. You finish on the island by exploring the Myatheindan Pagoda before returning back to Mandalay. As an option, you can finish the day enjoying the sunset at Mandalay Hill.

Sagaing & Ava Day Tour

After breakfast you visit Sagaing, which is one of the most important monastic centres in the country. You will explore the U Min Thoneze pagoda and the central pagoda of Soon U Pon Nya Shin. In the afternoon you drive to Amarapura and take a boat to Ava. Here, you take a trip to the Buddhist Maha Aungmyae Bonzan Monastery. After a horse cart ride around the sights of the old city, you watch the sunset over the 140-year old U Bein Bridge, which spans Lake Thaungthaman, and is the largest Teak Bridge in the world.

Along the way to Monywa located in the Chindwin Valley you visit the Mohnyin Thanboddhay Pagoda with more than 500,000 Buddha images.

Today you visit the Boditahtaung Pagoda and the largest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar. You then take some time to look at some local weaving products. After lunch, you explore the extraordinary Po Win Taung complex, that consists of 947 sandstone caves dug out of the hills.

A day of temples awaits in the morning discovering the Mingalazedi, Gubyaukgyi and Nanpaya Temples. In the afternoon you visit Minanthu village famous for its mural paintings and make a stop at lacquer ware factory to watch the skilful craftsmen.

Mount Popa, is an extinct volcano situated 1518-meters above sea level, well known for the nearby stunningly picturesque Popa Taungkalat Shrine. After lunch, you stop at Toddy Climber’s hut and explore the traditional production of palm sugar before finishing the day with a river sunset cruise.

Bagan to Inle Lake | Flight: 40 min

After flying to Heho airport you drive across the Shan Plateau to the limestone caves littered with thousands of Buddhist images at Pindaya. You visit some local houses to watch traditional Shan paper making; before continuing to Inle Lake and taking a boat to your hotel.

After a boat trip to the Nge Phe Chaung monastery the boat will turn down a narrow creek stopping to explore the ancient ruined pagodas around the Pa-Oh village at Indein. You will also get to watch various skilful crafts, such as cigar rolling, silversmithing, silk and lotus textiles.

You retrace your steps to Heho before flying to Yangon for a walking tour of Rangoon, taking in the Nanthida Jetty, Yangon City hall, Immanuel Baptist Church, MaharBundoola Park, Strand Hotel and many other fabulous old colonial buildings. Then a rickshaw to the Botataung Pagoda, time to soak up the hustle and bustle before a visit to the vibrant Bogyoke Market.
