Detailed Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Chiang Rai
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Chiang Rai and then transferred by road up to the highlands of Thailand. On arrival you will watch a presentation about the Hmong and Lahu tribes that live in the area as well as getting to explore some traditional local villages. After a local lunch taken overlooking the Mekong river you will get the opportunity to express yourself further by engaging with the Hmong people further, by either trying your hand at making a batik handkerchief with the ladies or learning how to set animal traps with the men. The day finishes with a traditional dance performance on board.
Overnight in Lanjia Lodge (Meals: _/L/D)
Day 2: Chiang Rai to Huay Xai to Pakbeng
Today you will have to rise early for a morning transfer to the Thai / Laos border crossing at Huay Xai. After you have carried out the necessary boarder procedures, you will be picked up and transferred to your cruise boat, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch as you set sail. In the afternoon you will pause at a traditional Laotian village, where you can get your first insight in to the Lao way of life. From here you re-embark your boat and continue to Pakbeng.
Overnight in Luang Say Lodge (Meals: B/L/D)
Day 3: Pakbeng to Luang Prabang
This morning, after breakfast at the lodge, you board the cruise boat one last time for your adventure on water which ends in Luang Prabang. Along the way you will stop twice; once at a traditional Laos village of Baw, where you will observe how whiskey is made. And the second stop at the magical and mysterious Pak Ou Caves, which are famous for the thousands of Buddha statues that are found in side. Your cruise then ends in the picturesque town of Luang Prabang, where you can continue your journey with us from here.
