Day in a Life Day Tour
Our Day in a Life Cambodia Tour visits a real village and is your chance to see the real country – an opportunity not to be missed. Join a local family and spend a few hours in their shoes. Help with activities such as the rice harvest, planting, weaving thatch or driving an ox cart. These activities depend on the season and the family’s routine on any given day. This project directly helps all villagers in providing sustainable income, year-round. It is also a perfect opportunity to capture some incredible photographs and memories. On this tour you will be looked after by a local family and spend a day in their shoes. This family will welcome you into their home and lives for the day. They receive a small payment for their effort and a larger contribution is made to a village fund. The village fund is used for special projects like water filters and wells. We work with the families to determine which projects need to be undertaken.
Our enriching Floating Villages Tour takes you out to the Tonle Sap Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and the richest fishing lake in the world. On this tour you will visit either the Kampong Phluk or Kampong Kleang communities, which have made their home on the lake, where they live in stilted houses up to 10 metres high. It is fascinating to see how these people go about their daily lives and you will appreciate this once-in-a-lifetime insight. On this tour you will also take a trip on a small rowing boat out to the floating forest where you can see the tops of the trees poking from the water bellow you. No visit to Siem Reap is complete without a day tour out to these incredible floating villages!
Village Walk and Talk
Every visitor makes an impact; why not make yours a positive one?
Treak Village is located just outside Siem Reap town and is home to around 300 families. The villagers are mainly farmers who are living a hand-to-mouth existence. While Siem Reap is changing quickly, change in the villages and rural areas is slow and you have the wonderful opportunity to learn all about their typical village lives. You will get to meet local people and interact with them in a respectful and meaningful way. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about real life in Cambodia.
Water Blessings are a sacred ritual performed in Pagodas across Cambodia. The blessing brings cleansing luck and is performed by a monk in the grounds of an active Pagoda. A water blessing is a wonderful way to share some of Cambodia’s rich vibrant culture and take home some wonderful memories. Two options are available, either with a full dousing of water or a light sprinkling. Just let us know which you prefer.
