South East Asia’s weather can be split in to the ‘Green Season’ and the ‘Dry Season’, with a couple of what could be called sub – seasons in between where it is slightly hotter or cooler.
Extending from July until October, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Burma see rain fall in short sharp downpours; in Borneo and Indonesia it falls between November to February. For all, these times project the countries to their most beautiful. There is lush foliage and rich fauna, the rivers are high and the trees are rich with fruit. With such striking scenery and fewer tourists it becomes a photographer’s heaven with easier access to all the attractions for the visitor.
The ‘Dry Season’ is from November to June in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Burma, and between March and October in Indonesia and Borneo. The first few months are the most pleasant as the weather is dry and cool; the days are full of bright crisp autumn like days. The weather is at its hottest and stickiest in the final couple of months of the dry season as it builds up to the rain.
