Meet the Team
Our team is a large, happy and diverse group made up of 6 nationalities with a combined experience of 60 years working in travel; and that’s just our Head Office staff! Although we are a mixed bunch, we have been united in our diversity and our passion for providing unforgettable and high quality trips to Asia since 2009.
Peter Jones, Managing Director
After graduating from university with a marketing degree, I got my first job in sales to save up for a round the world trip. Following my return to the UK, I worked for a golf company organising corporate golf days before moving further into the events industry in London including corporate hospitality, product launches and incentive trips. I then went on to set up my own hospitality company, but after a short time I decided something was missing in the UK. I remembered that I am happiest when travelling the world, relocated to Asia and See Asia Differently was born.

I was born in Egypt and raised in Libya but moved to Athens when I was 18 to continue my education. After leaving Athens University, I travelled extensively around the world. My interests in a variety of outdoor activities, geography, food and ethnography soon introduced me to work in the travel industry. I have amassed 25 years of experience working for London’s major tour operators and specialising in luxury and off the beaten track travel.

I was born in the Czech Republic where I spent my childhood. When I was 18 years old, I moved to England to study at University and then worked mainly in marketing but ventured into the manufacturing industry as well as architectural practice. When we started thinking about relocating to set up See Asia Differently, everything seemed to fit and the decision to ‘just do it’ was easy. We never looked back.

After completing my education at school and taking a year out to travel through Southeast Asia in 2011, I began working in sales for an interior design company. Quickly I realized my potential for selling was best suited to my passion for travel in Asia specifically. This opportunity arose when I met the See Asia Differently team at a travel exhibition in London and was consequently offered my dream job.

Ry Vanra (aka Ra), Tour Leader
“I first began to learn English in 2007 and was lucky to catch a break as a tour guide a year later. I have worked in a restaurant for 1 year and spent another year working as a cashier. While doing these jobs I began to save up to buy my own Tuk Tuk. Eventually I was able to buy my own Tuk Tuk and was a Tuk Tuk driver for around a year.
As my English and knowledge improved I had a chance to work as a guide at a dunne buggy tour before coming across See Asia Differently. I love to travel and to meet new people, as well as experiencing new things in Asia and the company has enabled me to explore new places.
I strive to make my clients happy and love to share my knowledge of areas that we pass through to help enhance their experience. I believe that Asia has a very rich culture with things such as Angkor Wat, Tonle Sap, beautiful mountains and beaches. This is without mentioning the friendliness of the Asian people.
Reath Kanha, Head Angkor Guide
I began to learn English while at high school in 2001, and also took private classes to further my understanding. I then studied English Literature at University graduating in 2010, I really enjoy practicing my English with tourists and picking up new tips. I have been a tour guide since early 2008.
I really enjoy my work, as it allows me to share my knowledge of Asian culture, tradition and history. I believe that a tour guide’s job is important as they are representing their respective country, as well as being responsible for the group and ensuring that they enjoy their trip.
Before I became a tour guide, I was a secondary school teacher in Khmer Literature, worked for 1 year for JICA water supply project for Siem Reap town. I believe that part of Asia’s appeal lies with it being a developing country having only recently opened up to tourists after our troubled past.
There is so much people can experience in Asia many of them are natural experiences such as mountains, waterfalls, beaches, rivers etc.
